HolgaDirect joins forces with The Darkroom

Well we have been talking to many potential partners over the last few months to see how we can expand our offering to our community of followers, fans and customers. Today we are very happy to announce the first of such partnerships with The Darkroom from California! The Darkroom is one of the foremost film processing labs in the USA having been in the business for more than 30 years.

As a Special Offer and while stocks last we are now able to offer a ‘FREE Film Processing’ card for all HolgaDirect customers who purchase a film camera or film alone. The regular price for this service is $10. As well as processing each customer will receive back the negatives, a CD of their images and an upload to their email account if provided. This really is a Fantastic Offer! Both 120 or 35mm are valid with the ‘FREE Film Processing’ card for processing. Please note that this offer is valid for 1 roll of film only and available to those customers located in the USA. Extra film can be added to the offer but this will be at the regular price of $10/roll. Shipping costs will also apply.

To give a little more background on The Darkroom we asked them a few questions…

Company Name: The Darkroom

Location: California, USA

Website: http://www.thedarkroom.com/

Business: Traditional Processing and Developing Lab

HolgaDirect: Hi guys! Thanks for talking to us about your great lab. Can you give us some background on who you are?

The Darkroom: The Darkroom was started in 1976 and continues its long tradition as a precision film lab with dip&dunk processing capabilities in C-41, E-6 and True B&W film types. In addition to being toy camera specialists, The Darkroom has been very active developing film for the surfing industry as well as Camera Stores in the US.

HolgaDirect: That’s great! We’re very pleased to find traditional businesses that still are able to operate in the current digital photography environment. Can you tell us more about the types of services that you offer?

The Darkroom:  The Darkroom offers Dip & Dunk film developing for C-41, E-6 and True Black & White, as well as complete scanning printing and web upload services for a wide variety of films from 110 (B&W and Color films now available from Lomo), 35mm, 120, 220, 620, 127, 828, 4×5, 8×10. The Darkroom currently offers two levels of scanning (standard at 4.8 mb or Enhanced at 18 mb) from most film formats as well as web uploads of customer images as soon as they are developed by The Darkroom. This is a huge advantage for mail customers since they will see their images online before they even get mailed back to the customer. All images are secure and password protected…no one else will see your photos.

The Darkroom also offers a variety of great new photo products like iPhone covers to stunning new metal prints. For non-standard formats we offer complete scanning and printing services for Holga and other Panoramic  cameras, Sprocket Hole, square and half frame formats, Cross Processing, Push/Pull processing options.

Finally we have a great newsletter where we have further offers on our services and products!

HolgaDirect: Awesome! That’s a real smorgasbord of services! How do you now see the future of analog photography?

The Darkroom: The future of Analog photography is excellent! Not as a mainstream “consumer” product of yesteryear but as a much more tactile, permanent and artistic form of self expression. Much more than a “niche” but not an overused commodity.  Just right in our opinion!

HolgaDirect: Yep, we all need to stick together to ‘Keep Film Alive’! Is there anything else you would like to mention?

The Darkroom: We also have a great monthly photo competition and an active facebook community sharing tips on great toy camera artistry! Be sure to check it out!

HolgaDirect: We’re sure our readers will check them out. Thanks again for taking the time to talk to HolgaDirect and also offer us this Fantastic Free Film processing offer!

So if you happen to be based in the USA and are looking for a film camera or film alone be sure to check out the HolgaDirect store and get your ‘Free Film Processing’ card today!
