The CapturePRO Camera Clip with PROplate from Peak Design is a camera holstering system that securely holds your camera without the traditional camera strap. The system is made up of a clip and a PROplate quick release plate, which together can support up to 200 lb. The quick release plate is compatible with all Arca-type clamps. Adapters for Manfrotto RC2 heads are included. With the adapters attached, the PROplate is compatible with Manfrotto RC2 heads that attach to a compatible plate at two points, along the head's locking cam lever and directly across from the lever. These include RC2 heads designed by Manfrotto for still photography. RC2 heads that attach to a plate at three points, along the head's locking cam lever and at two corners opposite the lever are typically incompatible with the PROplate with RC2 adapters. Such heads with a three-point connection frequently appear in Manfrotto RC2 video heads. The clip can attach to any backpack strap, bag, or belt less than 3" wide. It is ideal for photographers who need their hands free and also need instant access to their camera.
To use the system, attach the quick release plate to your camera, clamp the clip around a strap or belt and secure in place by tightening the two hand-tightened bolts. Your camera slides into the clip, locks in place, and will not detach until you push the quick release button to release it from the clip.
The CapturePRO Camera Clip can also be mounted directly to a tripod or monopod and be used as a quick release clamp. It features a 3/8"-16 thread and a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 reducer bushing is included.
The CapturePRO Camera Clip with PROplate also comes with a 4mm hex wrench for securely installing your plate on the camera, four attachment screws for the RC2 adapters, and a microfiber pouch for storing your clip when it is not in use.

Who is Capture for?
The short answer is anybody with a big camera. If you own a DSLR, Micro 4/3 or large point-and-shoot, Capture will make your shooting workflow exponentially easier. Most people who use Capture are on their feet and moving around a lot, sometimes doing extreme physical activities, but often just walking around town, the studio, the wildnerness, or wherever their shooting environment happens to be. Here are some of the key activities where Capture can really make a difference:
Hiking & Trekking
Travel & Backpacking
Skiing & Snowboarding
Parenting & Toddler-wrangling (aka lugging your camera and your kids around at the same time)
Studio Photography (multiple Capture units let you carry multiple camera bodies)
Photo-walks & Education
Live Music Photography
Diving (Capture works with any camera, including underwater ones)
Paddling & Portaging
What kinds of straps can Capture attach to?
CapturePRO is designed to attach to any strap or belt that fixed to your body or any of your pre-existing gear. Capture can attach to a strap with the maximum width of 3 inches (7.6cm). Capture does not require a completely rigid strap (i.e. you don't need special belts or backpacks) but it works better on straps that are stronger and more secure (canvas, leather, ballistic nylon, etc). Most commonly users attach Capture to belts and backpack shoulder straps, but it can also be used with climbing harnesses, life vests, and many other types of gear.
I'm an aggressive outdoor enthusiast. Is Capture going to work with all my activities?
CapturePRO can adapt to just about any activity. Capture users have taken their units downhill skiing, kayaking, hiking, motorcycling, mountain biking, fishing and mud racing to name a few. Other folks use Capture to free up their hands for pushing a stroller or holding a walking cane. It's really up to you to decide what activities you want to use it for. Capture will hold your camera - that we can assure you.
How much weight can Capture hold?
The quick release locking mechanism on CapturePRO can withstand over 100lbs. of force, as shown in the video below. This is more than enough to hold any camera/lens/battery combination out there. The limitation you'll face is in the strap, belt or substrate you choose to attach your camera to. On a backpack that has a lot of weight in the back, a sternum strap, and a waist strap, you'll be able to comfortably put a lot of gear on it (i.e. long zoom lenses, not just camera bodies). A professional camera belt can easily support a number of Capture units, each holding a body and a beefy lens. On the flip side, a thin belt that rides below the top of the hips isn't going to hold as much weight.
Will Capture work well with a battery grip, or camera bodies like the Canon 1D or Nikon D3?
CapturePRO can absolutely hold professional setups or cameras with battery grips. However, you should be cautioned about the ergonomics of using these setups, particularly with normal waist belts and straps. Putting a battery grip (and a flash) on your camera gets the center of gravity further away from the body, and makes Capture less effective. Some people have found success using battery grips and flashes, and that's great, however, we are not actively promoting Capture as a tool for large body cameras because it is a matter of opinion on how effective it is. Without question, the benefits of Capture are diminished anytime your setup's weight ventures too far from the base of the camera. We do, however, promote the use of Capture with a professional-grade camera belt like the Think Tank Pro Speed. When using Capture with a pro belt, the weight of heavier, bulkier rigs is much better supported. Many pro shooters choose this kind of setup for Capture.
Can I use Capture with a hand strap?
You bet. Capture's quick release plate is equipped with 4 hand strap loops so you can secure a hand strap for extra grip. Capture's hand strap loops are the same size as the standard strap loops that come on many DSLR bodies. If you're looking to buy a hand strap, we recommend you go into a camera store and try out a few with Capture before purchasing one.
